I wish to join with The Augustan Society, Inc., its officers, and its members, in assisting with the historical preservation, publication, and other programs undertaken by the Society as best I am able. I am willing to help support the Society's library, museum, historic preservation activities, and public education programs, as well as other programs that may be undertaken from time to time. I recognize that as a member I will be called upon to offer specific support in the form of original articles, artwork, book reviews, preservation work, research assistance, or financial support. I agree to help my fellow members in their efforts on behalf of the Society, in their personal research, and to offer support for related programs well run by other organizations. Petition for Membership in the Society of Descendants of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem I do hereby petition the Board of Directors of The Augustan Society, Inc., for admission to the Society of Descendants of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem as a life member in the following class: Outremer Member Crusader Member Pilgrim Member I promise to uphold the traditions of chivalry and to promote chivalric ideals in society. Because Outremer membership is based on descent, it is important that the genealogical proofs submitted be clear and authoritative. You may submit more than one line of descent, but a separate genealogist's fee must be paid for each line. If a lineage is not approved, an additional Genealogist Fee must be paid with each resubmission. Crusader Petitioners must submit documentation attesting to membership in one of the Orders of Chivalry which fought in the Holy Land during the Crusades. If you have previously been recognized for such membership, it will be reflected in the postnominals used by the Society. Pilgrim Petitioners must submit copies of documentation showing proof of pilgrimage to the Holy Land. All three classes pay the registration fee, and more than one class may be applied for simultaneously under a single fee. Outremer petitioners must also pay a genealogist's fee for each lineage submitted. All three classes receive a certificate of membership and the insignia of the Society. At present, only the lapel pin is available. When finances permit production of the breast plate, it will be sent to active members at no additional charge. "Buy-A-Box"
"Buy-A-Box" Program The Augustan Society Library has recently been blessed with a substantial grant from an anonymous member to fund cataloging of our library collection. When complete, we will have an online public access catalog (OPAC) that all may use. This will also permit us to do research, to make photocopies and reprints from our collection, and perhaps to re-institute the book loan program. While most generous, the grant covers only the cataloging and related software, equipment, and rent needed for the project. That's a lot, but the need is greater yet. At present, all our books are stored in plain cardboard boxes stacked one atop another. This isn't good for the books, and makes searching for any particular book nearly impossible. The “Buy-A-Box” program is your opportunity to do exactly that — to buy an acid-free box into which the books can be placed as they are cataloged, and to buy a share of the shelving on which these can be placed for easy access. For each $25 you donate, a box of books or magazines will be cataloged, repacked in an acid-free box, and placed on steel shelving for access. Your name will be placed on your boxes for now, and you will be recognized in a more permanent way once we again have a library facility. Donors may also select the subject to be cataloged. You may “buy” as many boxes as you please, and select either a single subject, a different subject for each, or leave it to “Consuls' Choice”. The program is not limited to Society members, but is open to all who wish to support the Augustan Society Library and to help make it again available to researchers and scholars. Augustan Society members are reminded that the Board of Directors has made participation in this program an obligation of membership, effective 1 January 2011. Order of the Augustan Eagle, Renewal
Order of the Augustan Eagle, Renewal Available only to members of the Order of the Augustan Eagle whose membership expires at the end of the year. Life Members and Honorary Members are exempt from paying dues. Dues must be received at Headquarters by 31 December. If dues are not received by 1 February, you will no longer be considered a "member in good standing" of The Augustan Society, and you will not be eligible for any member privileges. If OAE dues are not paid for two consecutive years, your name will be dropped from the roster of members of the OAE. You would thereafter have to be reappointed by the President.
